About Us
From a cattle ranch in Southern Idaho, to the beaches of Southern California, and settling in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, the Wild Oak Spice Company carries forward four generations of BBQ tradition. Each blend we create captures our family's journey of discovering, perfecting, and sharing the art of outdoor cooking with everyone who wants to join us at the grill.
We're your guide on the journey to BBQ mastery, crafting custom blends that cater to every palate while making outdoor cooking accessible to all. From beginners to pit masters, we provide the flavors and knowledge to help you grow your skills and discover the joy of California-style BBQ.
As passionate journeymen in the West Coast BBQ movement, we're building a community where everyone can learn, experiment, and create incredible meals for their families.
Our Team
Nate Turton, Spicemaster
Nate is the taste behind Wild Oak Spice Company. His gift of blending spices and stories together is what led us to turn this from an occasional backyard barbeque into a thriving and creative enterprise.
Joshua Turton, Grillinator
Known to his nieces and nephews as Uncle Papi, Josh is an experienced griller and cook. He is also the instigator for our seasonal favorite, Uncle Papi's Turkey Brine (coming in November).
Rick Turton, Barbecutioner
Rick is the patriarch of the family and claims to be the first one to ever stoke a grill with a leaf blower. He truly believes that meat is an art medium and has never met a steak he didn't like... unless it was well-done.
Ethan Turton, Wingslinger (Apprentice)
Ethan is our youngest pit crew member, whose keen palate and dedication to detail make him invaluable in crafting our signature rubs. His adventurous taste buds and honest feedback have helped shape many of our most innovative spice blends, proving that great BBQ wisdom can come from any generation.
In Memoriam
Jack Riddle, The Cowboy
An authentic cowpoke from the ranchland of Idaho, Grandpa was cooking over open fire before it was cool. His tales of riding the range herding cattle and grilling outdoors inspired us all. He's also the cowboy on the image above, from which we derive our name and brand.
